Happy birthday Peeta! Sunday, October 12th marks the 22nd birthday of noted Kentucky fan Josh Hutcherson. Hutcherson is now
a two time recipient of the news and views post but his career has ascended to new heights since the last time he graced this hallowed post. Since that post in 2011 the kid from Union, KY has launched to international stardom as a cast member of the Hunger Games. With two more movies closing out the series over the next two years Josh is showing no signs of slowing down.
Earlier this year Hutcherson made his star known when he attended a game at Rupp for the first time since rocketing to mega-fame. The student section went berserk when he was the "Y" and showered the celeb with the trademark Hunger Games three-finger salute. It was an epic moment for the younger crowd and Josh responded when called into
KSR and named that moment the highlight of his career. With the Hunger Games film in post-production Josh should have some more free time to get to Lexington this season as the Cats strive for nine. With
games against UNC and Texas on the home docket I'd say it's a safe bet we'll be seeing him sooner rather than later. Happy birthday to BBN's favorite 22 year old movie star.
On to the news and views:
Cats Start Slow But Then They Roll
Some people feared a letdown after the win over South Carolina last week and for the first quarter those fears became reality. Kentucky rode a big Boom Williams opening kickoff return to the first 3 points of the game but were manhandled by the Warhawks for the remaining fifteen minutes. ULM blitzed the Cats and Patrick Towles into submission. Jojo Kemp threw one of the worst passes you'll ever see in college football and before you knew it the team was in a 14-3 hole punting the football.
In the second quarter things quickly changed. ULM was in KY territory when Bud Dupree got to Pete Thomas on 3rd and 8. Two plays later Towles connected with Javess Blue on a 83 yard touchdown that saw Blue showcase his amazing speed.
The Cats trailed 14-10. The ULM lead would be short lived as on the next series Matt Elam tipped a pass and Josh Forrest took it 29 yards to the house to put the Cats back in front 17-14 and they would never look back.
Kentucky scored 45 straight to win the game 48-14 and improve to 5-1 on the season.
Oh Yeah, Javess Blue Did This...

Each week it seems a new play emerges as the "play of the year". First it was the AJ Stamps one handed grab. Then it was the trick play against South Carolina. Followed instantly by Bud downing the Gamecocks with an interception.
Then Javess Blue steps in today and does this. It was a career day for the senior WR who racked up two touchdowns and his second most game yards as a Cat. With Blue looking to be fully recovered from the tennis ball machine's violent attack an already formidable group of receivers looks even better for the final six games.
Kentucky Is Tied For First

With just 5 SEC games remaining after this weekend the Cats are firmly in the SEC east race. When asked for comment Mark Stoops said "
“I love it. I love it. Let’s go.” We love it too Mark.
Next week the race continues when the
Cats head down to Baton Rogue. The Tigers have lost two of their last three and currently trail Florida 24-20 in the Swamp. The Gators need to lose some games as they hold the tie-breaker over the Cats.
Around College Football
Louisville lost to Clemson in a bizarre finish. Louisville trailed by 6 late but had a chance to win the game when James Quick took a pass into the redzone during the final minute. On third-and-goal the Cards spiked the ball to stop the clock and attempt one final play to win the game. On fourth down the Cards couldn't pull out the winning play and Clemson forced a turnover on downs. For some reason Tigers fans rushed the field. Everyone went home embarrassed but for Cards fans that is business as usual.
Georgia clobbered Missouri 34-0 without Todd Gurley.
Georgia certainly looks to be the team to beat in the East and the game in Columbia looks to be a lot more winnable. Can we just suspend the Bulldog's entire group of running backs? Fill-in freshman Nick Chubb carried the ball 38 times for 143 yards and a touchdown. Geez.
Kentucky could be hosting the nation's top team in two weeks. #3 Mississippi State took down #2 Auburn today by jumping to an early 21-zip lead and then holding on to win 38-23. Dak Prescott is now the leader in the Heisman race and many think the Bulldogs will jump FSU to number 1 when the polls come out tomorrow. With State heading into a bye week the Cats could be hosting the nation's top team under the lights of Commonwealth. Could be an awesome
Gameday in Lexington.
Big Blue Madness Is 5 Days Away
Sunday. Monday. Tuesday. Wednesday. Thursday. 2014-2015 season. It's a great week to be a Cat fan and with an epic weekend approaching time is going to be dragging by. One thing is for certain, Cal will be better dressed than Bill Self
