JUCO Cornerback Zahquan Frazier Signs with Kentucky

Not every National Signing Day addition is from the high school ranks or the transfer portal. Seeking experience and depth at cornerback, Kentucky signed junior college cornerback Zahquan Frazier.
Frazier is the second-ranked safety and No. 10 junior college prospect in America, according to 247 Sports. A defensive back for Coffeyville C.C. in Kansas, he is originally from Cedartown, Ga., about an hour west of Chris Collins’ old stomping grounds at Georgia State. The new UK secondary coach served as his primary recruiter.

In addition to Kentucky, Frazier also was considering Mississippi State, Utah and UTSA. He officially visited the latter two before he made the trip to Kentucky’s campus on the final weekend of the open recruiting period.
When Mark Stoops first arrived in Lexington, he almost exclusively recruited big, lengthy defensive backs to play cornerback. After getting away from that philosophy for a few years, the 2021 season taught him that you need a physical presence at boundary corner to succeed in the SEC. Checking in at 6-foot-4, 185 pounds, Frazier fits that mold perfectly and takes some bite out of the sting from losing DeCarlos Nicholson to Mississippi State earlier on Wednesday.
