Jackson State LB transfer Jurriente Davis commits to Texas A&M
Jackson State linebacker Jurriente Davis was the first prospect to emerge for Kentucky in the spring portal window. Unfortunately, the Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley product will be playing somewhere else in the SEC on next season.
After taking two visits last week, Davis decided to end his recruitment on Thursday evening with a commitment to Texas A&M.
Davis will now head to College Station to suit up for head coach Jimbo Fisher and defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin in the SEC West. The Aggies scored a win over the Wildcats in a rare head-to-head recruiting battle between the two programs.
The FCS transfer entered the transfer portal on March 28 and made the trip to Kentucky for a mid-week official visit before the portal officially opened on April 15. The grad transfer made the trek to College Station shortly after his trip to Lexington. Before making another visit, the transfer decided to make a commitment.

Davis received scholarship offers from Oklahoma, UCF, Kentucky, Texas A&M, and Louisville while in the portal. After spending two seasons in junior college, the linebacker spent 2021 with Middle Tennessee before using his one-time transfer to move to Jackson State. In the SWAC, recorded 58 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss at inside linebacker last fall.
Kentucky currently has five scholarship off-ball linebackers on the roster. Depth is a concern after starters D’Eryk Jackson and Trevin Wallace. The coaching staff and recruiting department at the Joe Craft Football Training Facility will now need to consider evaluating some other linebackers in the portal.
The spring window closes on April 30. Recruiting never stops.
