Justin Edwards named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week
What better way to celebrate #JEdwardsDay than Justin Edwards himself earning SEC Co-Freshman of the Week honors?
You knew it was coming after the 6-8, 203-pound wing out of Philadelphia, PA went nuclear for a career-high 28 points in a win over Alabama. The only question was whether or not he’d have to share the award with Mississippi State freshman Josh Hubbard, who also went for a career-high in a blowout win, scoring 32 at LSU.
Edwards averaged 18.5 points per game while shooting 92.9% overall, 87.5% from three and 80.0% at the line at LSU and vs. Alabama. He shot a perfect 10 of 10 from the field and 4 of 4 from three in his 28-point explosion against the Crimson Tide.

Now he’s got the hardware to back up his star performance.
His performance was the third-best perfect shooting game in Kentucky program history, becoming the first Cat to hit every shot on at least 10 attempts since Rodney Dent was 12 of 12 vs. Morehead State on Dec. 17, 1993. Edwards’ previous career high was 17 points, coming in a win at Vanderbilt earlier in February.
The former five-star freshman became Kentucky’s sixth player to score at least 20 points this season and has hit the double-figure mark 10 times this year for an average of 8.9 points per contest.
Happy #JEdwardsDay to all who celebrate, especially Justin Edwards himself.
