Kaiya Sheron was a standout at Somerset (Ky.) High who led his state to state championship as a junior in 2019. That big season ultimately led to the in-state prospect getting a scholarship to play for the state school. Sheron would even start a SEC game for the Wildcats before entering the transfer portal after three years in the program.

The former three-star recruit transferred to FCS UT Martin and spent one season playing for the Skyhawks. That Big South-OVC program saw its season end in the second round of the playoff on Dec. 7 with a loss to No. 1 Montana State. Shortly after that game, Kaiya Sheron announced his retirement from football.

The former Kentucky quarterback is stepping away from the game after four seasons at Kentucky and UT Martin. Kaiya Sheron posted on Instagram this week that he is calling it quits after a third ACL injury.
