Former Kentucky QB Kaiya Sheron lands at UT Martin

Somerset (Ky.) High product Kaiya Sheron has found a new college football home. The class of 2021 signee left the Kentucky program in December and has emerged in the FCS ranks.

The redshirt junior with two year of eligibility remaining has enrolled at UT Martin and will be playing for a program that has been on a good run in recent years.

Head coach Jason Simpson is entering year 17 at UTM and has led the Skyhawks to a combined 25-10 record over the last three years. UTM is looking to make a playoff push in in 2024 after only making two playoff appearances under Simpson.

Former Ole Miss transfer Kinkead Dent is returning for the Skyhawks after finishing his first season in the FCS with 2,295 passing yards (6.5 yards per attempt) with 25 passing touchdowns, eight interceptions, and 353 rushing yards. Kaiya Sheron will have some competition for the QB1 role at UTM as he begins the next chapter of his collegiate career.

Sheron led Somerset to a state title in 2019 and started one game during his three years spent with the Kentucky football program. The Wildcats currently have just two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster in 2024.
