Kansas has claimed the 2022 NCAA Championship, defeating North Carolina by a final score of 72-69 to win the program’s fourth title in history. Down by as many as 16 points, it was the largest comeback in national championship history.

The Jayhawks went into the half down 15 points.

Ochai Agbaji was named Final Four Most Outstanding Player after finishing with 12 points on 4-9 shooting and 1-4 from three to go with three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in the win.

Jalen Wilson and David McCormack led the Jayhawks with 15 points apiece, followed by Remy Martin with 14 and Christian Braun with 12.

Armando Bacot and R.J. Davis led the Tar Heels with 15 points apiece, followed by Brady Manek and Caleb Love with 13 points each. After a dominant semifinal performance vs. Duke, Love shot just 5-24 from the field and 1-8 from three in the title game. He also turned the ball over four times compared to just two assists.

Kansas shot 43.9% from the field and 35.3% from three, while North Carolina shot 31.5% from the field and 21.7% from three.

Simply not enough on the Tar Heels’ end to hold off the “Kansas City” Jayhawks’ late comeback effort.

Now time to vacate that title, NCAA.

Time to watch One Shining Moment once and then quickly forget this NCAA Tournament ever happened. Deal?

Good riddance.
