John Calipari is known to have a special bond with his players, and while some might think this is limited to courtside bro hugs after NBA games, Saturday night proved it extends to the occasional sleepover too, at least for Karl-Anthony Towns.

The true star of the Calipari family, John’s wife, Ellen, shared a story on Instagram that will make you smile. In town for a wedding, KAT asked Mrs. Cal if he could come over for a sleepover. She was delighted to have him, but somehow through all of this, Coach Cal didn’t know about this arrangement. So when he got up in the morning, according to Ellen, with hair that looked like Kramer from Seinfeld, he had to go comb it so he wouldn’t scare Karl’s girlfriend.

Towns’ girlfriend, by the way, is megastar Jordyn Woods.

Anyway, Ellen shared that when Karl saw Calipari in the morning, he said, “Coach, you already put the juice in your hair?”

No word on whether or not the two built a fort or had a pillow fight.

You’d think a man making $33 million per year could spring for a hotel but why stay at 21c when you can crash with Coach Cal?

Brandon Boston also stopped by for a surprise visit

Karl-Anthony Towns wasn’t the only former Kentucky player who stopped by the Calipari residence over the weekend. Brandon Boston also took a few minutes to say hello to his old coach.

Calipari shared a picture of the two of them at his house and praised Boston for getting to where he is with the LA Clippers after going through such a rough year at Kentucky. According to Cal, no class went through what he went through.

The two symbolize remarkable extremes. Towns was part of perhaps one of the most beloved and successful squads in Kentucky history while Boston was the star recruit of the forgettable 9-16 team. Still, they share an equal affinity for Coach Calipari.

You can quibble about how Cal might no longer have the best relationship with big donors, Mitch Barnhart, for former coaches, but you can never question the love he has for his players. He is as dedicated and loyal to those guys as it gets and they love him back because of it.
