Karl-Anthony Towns is a man of many talents. Whether it is attending Paris Fashion Week, winning 3-point competitions, or doing water shots in the Bahamas, KAT is elite in nearly every facet of life. His polished and overly polite personality sometimes causes him grief from fellow players, but his peers know who they want representing them when the jersey comes off and the suit goes on.

The National Basketball Players Association’s Board of Player Reps elected Towns as Vice President of the NBPA Executive Committee. That might sound like a made-up LinkedIn title, but it is very much real and a sign of tremendous respect.

Los Angeles Lakers guard Gabe Vincent joins KAT with this honor along with Boston Celtics’ superstar, Jaylen Brown, who was re-elected as VP.

What exactly does a Vice President of the NBPA Executive Committee do? Good question. The NBPA is the Player’s union that helps barter for a favorable work environment from compensation structure down to day-to-day treatment from a players’ organization. According to their website, as one of six VPs, Towns will serve as part of the Union’s leadership committee involved in strategic planning, business affairs, and policy-making decisions to carry out the NBPA’s work on behalf of all players.

Towns is stoked about the new venture:

“I’m excited to join the NBPA Executive Committee and honored that my peers voted me into this position. I’ve been in the league for a decade and have never missed a Union meeting; I’m proud to be stepping into a more formal leadership role at this pivotal time. The players power this game, and I want to be in a position to find new ways to deliver value for my fellow players, on and off the court.”
