Kentucky is still in the running for one of the top uncommitted players in the 2024 class. According to On3’s Joe Tipton, Five-Star Plus+ small forward Karter Knox has narrowed his list to four: Kentucky, Louisville, South Florida, and the G-League Ignite. He told Tipton he does not plan to make his decision by the early signing period next month.

The 6’6″ 211 lbs. younger brother of Kevin Knox plays for Overtime Elite, on the same team as current 2024 Kentucky commit Somto Cyril. He is the No. 12 overall player in the 2024 On3 Industry Ranking, and the No. 4 small forward. His brother’s history with John Calipari and Kenny Payne is part of the reason why the Cats and the Cards are among the top four, but South Florida has a family tie too. Karter’s other older brother Kobe is a redshirt sophomore for the Bulls. The Knox family also lives in Tampa.

In a previous interview with Tipton, Knox discussed his relationship with Calipari and Kentucky’s staff and his impressions of the program.

“They really just want me. They think they can make me a one-and-done, and go to the pros. They think they can really develop my game and they think I fit in their style of play. Cal really loves me and the coaching staff really loves me. When I went there (to Lexington), it was really like a basketball city. Kentucky, that’s really all they got. The fans are crazy for Kentucky and the stadium will be packed damn near every game.”

2024 5-Star PG Boogie Fland announcing tomorrow

There’s some other BIG recruiting news on the horizon. Tomorrow at 2 p.m., five-star point guard Boogie Fland will announce his college decision during a ceremony at his high school, Archbishop Stepinac (NY). Fland is the No. 15 overall player and top-ranked point guard in On3’s 2024 rankings. He’s down to Kentucky, Indiana, and Alabama.

Kentucky has been in hot pursuit of Fland this fall, with John Calipari visiting him three times since Fland’s official visit to Lexington in September. The Cats and the Indiana Hoosiers are considered the frontrunners, with no experts seeming to know for certain. Calipari’s history of developing point guard is an obvious plus for Kentucky.

“Coach Cal has a really long track record with point guards,” Fland recently told On3’s Jamie Shaw. “Especially developing them. He has a track record of getting his guys to the next level and then getting them to their second contract. That’s really big with me and what stood out with them.

“Everything about the campus stood out. But the housing for the players is right beside the gym, so if it rains, snows, whatever, all you got to do is walk two feet, and you’re in there. They have a good culture there, and I liked the environment.”

Will Kentucky get another Boogie? We’ll find out soon enough.
