Kash Daniel is still waiting on his chance with the NFL. He didn't hear his name called in the 2020 Draft, and he's yet to sign a deal as a free agent. Still, he not giving up hope. In a recent interview with WOWK in the Huntington/Charleston, West Virginia television market, the former Wildcat talked with reporter Anna Maria Tarullo about his draft process and his mentality going into this next phase of his life. "However I get my opportunity, I'm going to make the most of it. I'm going to bust my tail like I always have because all I know how to do is work. I'll outwork the guy next to me and across from me," Daniel says in the facetime interview. "It ain't going to be nothing new to me, and I'm looking forward to the challenge." This year's process was certainly a unique one. The annual NFL Pro Day was cancelled due to the Coronavirus outbreak, and teams weren't able to see the league's newest prospects workout, participate in drills or even meet with team representatives in person. For players like Daniel, someone who wasn't projected to go in the Draft but could impress a team with his grit, that hurt. "It kind of robbed us of an opportunity to show we've got more than what we've already shown on game film," Daniel said. "A lot of guys were looking forward to Pro Day, including myself, but at the end of the day this is bigger than football. What's going on right now is bigger than a Pro Day... People's health comes first, and if we're not healthy there's not going to be any football. That's our priority right now." His other priority is helping his people and making the Bluegrass proud. Throughout his time with the Wildcats, Daniel has been a proud representative for eastern Kentucky, especially his hometown of Paintsville, located in Johnson County. Now that he has the chance to finally make his childhood dreams a reality, he wants that chance not only for himself, but for the place he's proud to call home. "To be able to come back here and help a lot of people... A lot of people around this area are suffering right now, especially with the layoffs and everything going on. They're struggling to put food on their family's table," Daniel says in the interview. "With this platform I have and this opportunity I have, I want to use it for good, come back and try to help a lot of people with it, and try to make as many lives easier as I can." Daniel is a self-described "field general" with an "old-school mindset." He's willing to put in the work and he's willing to be flexible, telling Tarullo he's up for any challenge. "Whatever I gotta do and whatever role a team gives me, I'm just going to do it the best way I know how," Daniel said. Watch the entire interview on WOWK here.
