North Carolina DL transfer Keeshawn Silver commits to Kentucky
Early on Sunday, we learned that North Carolina defensive line transfer Keeshawn Silver took a visit to Kentucky over the weekend. What we didn’t know was that this recruitment would be ending almost immediately.
Less than 12 hours after learning about the visit, Silver made it official and committed to Wildcats.
Keeshawn Silver (6-5, 315) was a five-star recruit in the class of 2021 who stayed home and signed with Mack Brown’s North Carolina program. The blue-chip prospect has a reported seven-foot wingspan and had an outstanding junior season in 2019 at Rocky Mount (N.C.) High. However, high school football was not played in North Carolina in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Silver played in just five games over two years for the Tar Heels. During his time in Chapel Hill, Silver played for two defensive coordinators.
The redshirt sophomore with three years of eligibility will join a Kentucky defensive line room that is looking for a starter at nose tackle following the departure of Justin Rogers. It is currently unclear what position Silver will play in Lexington. However, the recruiting profile is impressive and there appear to be some intriguing physical traits despite making the fact that the transfer made a limited impact in the ACC.

Silver becomes the seventh transfer to commit to Kentucky during the 2023 recruiting cycle. With the commitment coming before classes start on Monday, the Wildcats should be able to get the North Carolina transfer enrolled and participating in team activities this month.
Kentucky has just addressed its defensive line in the transfer portal for the first time this offseason.
