Will Levis and Chris Rodriguez Jr. were the only two Kentucky players to receive invites to this year’s edition of the Reese’s Senior Bowl. Rodriguez will be in Mobile on Tuesday as practices for the event begin while it looks like Levis will be sitting out.

However, another Kentucky player will be joining the party.

After a strong performance at the NFLPA Bowl, Keidron Smith has received an invitation to the Senior Bowl.

The former Ole Miss transfer spent just one season at Kentucky, but it was a good one. The South Florida native recorded 46 tackles, five pass breakups, and two interceptions in 12 starts this season in Lexington. Smith earned a second team All-SEC selection by the coaches and a strong 85.6 grade from PFF. The 6-2 corner excelled in defensive coordinator Brad White’s zone-heavy scheme and is officially on the radar for draft consideration.

The super senior should be an intriguing prospect at the Senior Bowl. Smith played multiple positions in four seasons at Ole Miss getting time at cornerback, safety, and nickel/sam. A former low three-star recruit in the class of 2018 played in 60 games during his collegiate career with over 3,000 defensive snaps. Smith recorded 269 tackles, 33 passes defended, six forced fumbles, and earned 41 starts during his five years spent in the SEC.

Don’t be surprised if Keidron Smith becomes a Day 3 pick as his durability, positional versatility, and zone scheme fit should be attractive to some NFL franchises. Multiple teams are already showing interest. Stay tuned to KSR as the draft season heats up.
