Kellan Grady, Mychal Mulder waived ahead of NBA season-opener
Less than a week out from the start of the 2022-23 NBA season, Kellan Grady and Mychal Mulder are both looking for new NBA homes. The regular season begins on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
Grady, who spent the 2021-22 season with the Kentucky Wildcats, was cut by the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday, according to the NBA’s transaction log. The 25-year-old sharpshooter went unselected in the 2022 NBA Draft but later signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Nuggets. Grady played on Denver’s Summer League team, but did not show enough production during the preseason to warrant a full roster spot.
Mulder, who was with the Wildcats from 2015-17, was waived by the Miami Heat on Thursday, just a few days after re-signing with the franchise. The expectation when he signed on Sunday was that he would spend the regular season with Miami’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, however, that is no longer the case. At 28 years old he’ll look to land elsewhere as a free agent. Mulder has found previous success in the NBA over the years; his best individual stretch was the ’20-21 campaign with the Golden State Warriors where he played in 60 games — including six starts — while shooting nearly 45 percent from beyond the arc.
Shaedon Sharpe signs with NBA agent
In other BBNBA-related news, Portland Trail Blazers rookie Shaedon Sharpe has signed with agent Mike George of One Legacy Sports, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Sharpe was the No. 7 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. George also represents former Wildcat shooting guard Jamal Murray of the Denver Nuggets.

A small labral tear very early in Summer League action saw Sharpe spend the next couple of weeks on the sidelines, but he’s played quite well for Portland during recent preseason action. The 6-foot-6 human highlight reel has averaged 11.8 points and 2.6 rebounds in 21.0 minutes per game across five contests while shooting 44.0 percent overall from the field.
Sharpe and the Trail Blazers will open the 2022-23 regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 10:00 p.m. EST against the Sacramento Kings.
