2025 4-star guard Kennedy Henry decommits from Virginia Tech, could follow Brooks to UK
It’s no secret that a huge part of Kenny Brooks’ plan at Kentucky has been to bring over his talent from Virginia Tech. Georgia Amoore and Clara Strack have already officially transferred and signed with Kentucky. Additionally, Lexi Blue (incoming freshman) and Amelia Hassett (JUCO) flipped their commitments to the Wildcats after pledging to the Hokies in the past.
There are even more current players and recruits involved with Virginia Tech that could flip to Kentucky, including a high-profile 2025 recruit.
On Wednesday, 2025 four-star guard (ESPN) Kennedy Henry announced on social media that she would be decommitting from Virginia Tech. The 6-foot high school junior holds offers from the likes of Boston College, Pitt, Florida State, and others.
“I would like to thank Hokie nation for considering me to be apart of the program. Not only athletically but also academically and I thank God for the opportunity, but in light of recent events I have decided to reopen my recruitment for my last summer of AAU and high school season,” Henry said in her announcement. “I haven’t ruled out VT, but I believe it is best for me to consider other options.”

Henry averaged 20.0 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in her junior season at Blair Academy (NJ). She led her team to a 2024 MAPL Athletics title by scoring 35 points in the championship game. She brings an innate ability to put the ball in the bucket. On top of that, Henry’s rebounding and defensive prowess make her invaluable.
Last week, Henry announced that she will transfer to Westtown (PA) High School for her senior season.
She committed to the Hokies back in June of 2022, when Kenny Brooks was still head coach in Blacksburg. With him at Kentucky now, Brooks could certainly start of his 2025 class by adding in a former commit of his.
