Now that the roster for this upcoming season is pretty much done, Kenny Brooks can look to the future, and he’s looking far into it.

6-foot-6 prospect Sydney “Bean” Douglas, who is almost certainly the best and most talented player in the 2028 class, announced on social media Wednesday night that Brooks and Kentucky had extended her an offer. This is the first offer the staff has given to a member of the 2028 class.

Her father is Rome Douglas, who played offensive tackle for the USC Trojans. They would win the Rose Bowl while he was there in 1996 against Northwestern. He would go on to play in the NFL as well. Rome’s father and Sydney’s grandfather James Douglas played basketball at Memphis from 1968-71, averaging 15.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.

As for Sydney, even at such a young age, the potential for what she can do is already there. At 6-foot-6, she has the size to bang down low. However, she’s a unicorn in the sense that she also has the mobility and agility to play like a guard and create offense from anywhere on the floor.

Sure, it may be early, but the best comparison for her in terms of her ability and skillset might be Las Vegas Aces big A’ja Wilson — the best women’s basketball player on the planet. If you think that’s a stretch, this feature by CaliforniaPreps says Douglas’ potential lies somewhere between Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan.

She is the real deal, folks. Hopefully, she ends up in blue and white when the time comes.
