Kenny Brooks: "The little monster we have at the point guard position is really good."
The life and blood of Kenny Brooks‘ first team in Lexington is none other than All-American and future All-SEC guard Georgia Amoore.
As Brooks has said many times, Amoore is his “mini-me” — the captain for his ship. Obviously, Brooks can’t throw the jersey and sneakers on and play the game himself, but Amoore is the closest thing to that. They share a level of connectivity that is truly unparalleled. On top of that, she’s also just a pretty dang good ball player.
As just mentioned, she was an All-American last season, and she has a very real shot at being able to call herself a two-time All-American when her collegiate career is all said and done this spring.
It’s hard to gauge just how good this Kentucky team is at this point, simply because of the fact that they haven’t played anyone yet. Expectations are high, but who is to say how good Kentucky really is right now? Brooks, however, believes that having Amoore gives Kentucky a chance to be as good as people hope.

“The comparison, you’re always wondering [how good you are] because this time of year, you keep going against each other, so if your offense is good, your defense must be bad. If your defense is good, your offense must be bad,” Brooks explained. “There’s been a lot of comparison.”
He added, “I’ve gone back and watched film of previous teams, previous really good teams, and the only thing I do know is I know that the little monster we have at the point guard position is really good. When you have — like in football, if you have a good quarterback, you have a good chance. We have a really good point guard, we have a chance.”
