Kentucky women’s basketball head coach Kenny Brooks added the 13th piece to his debut roster on Thursday when Oregon State transfer Dominika Paurová committed to the Wildcats.

A rising sophomore, Paurová is the eighth incoming transfer this offseason for Brooks, who has completely rebuilt the roster going into 2024-25. Clocking in as a 6-foot-1 guard, Paurová — a native of the Czech Republic — averaged 5.5 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 16.4 minutes per outing for the Beavers as a rookie in 2023-24. She shot 48 percent overall and 37.2 percent from deep.

“I’m extremely excited to add Dom to our program,” Brooks said in UK’s press release. “Her experience on an elite eight team will be valuable to us, and her contributions over the next three years will help us into the future. I love her passion and versatility.”

Although playing time was limited for Paurová, she was a member of a talented Oregon State squad that ultimately fell in the Elite 8 of the 2024 NCAA Tournament to eventual champion South Carolina. Paurová finished with just two points and three assists in 13 minutes played during that loss to the Gamecocks.

However, arguably her best performance of the season came in the NCAA Tournament opener against Eastern Washington when she contributed a season-high 17 points, two rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 26 minutes. Throughout her 35 appearances as a freshman, Paurová posted seven double-digit scoring games.

Paurová is also a member of the Czech Republic National Team. She’s played on the U14, U15, U18, U19, and U20 teams from 2018-23 and also cracked the Czech Senior National team for FIBA Women’s Eurobasket qualifying. In 2022, she helped the U20 squad reach the FIBA European Championships Division A title game.

Along with incoming Wildcat center Clara Silva out of Portugal, she and Paurová have been called “two of the best European projects of their respective generations”. It sure is nice to have them both in Lexington.
