Top-500 DB Kenton Kirkland is taking unofficial visit to Kentucky
After receiving a commitment from three-star cornerback Nasir Addison on Saturday, Kentucky’s hot recruiting run in July continued. The Wildcats are looking to keep the good times rolling after the dead period ended on Monday. Programs can now return to hosting prospects on campus for visits.
Kentucky is quickly getting to work this week. Jacksonville (Fla.) Raines defensive back Kenton Kirkland will be visiting Lexington for an unofficial visit according to 247 Sports’ Dane Draper.
Kenton Kirkland is the No. 474 ranked prospect in the class of 2023 according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The prospect is listed as a safety but plays cornerback for his high school team and has the potential to play multiple spots at the next level.
Florida State has hosted Kirkland for the most visits to this point. The Seminoles and Kentucky issued the prospect a scholarship offer on the same day 11 months ago. Kirkland has another visit scheduled for Tallahassee this weekend.

Cincinnati and Florida are also contenders in this recruitment. Currently, the prospect considers Florida State the favorite. Kirkland is a rangy defensive back with good length to go along with a track and field background. The prospect was highly-productive as a junior and has a frame that should add good weight in a college strength and conditioning program.
Kentucky has 13 commitments in the class of 2023 with four defensive players in the fold. Adding Kenton Kirkland would give assistant coach Chris Collins a big recruiting win in North Florida and would allow the Wildcats to continue their committed rebuild of the secondary since the end of last season.
Recruiting never stops.
