Kentucky 3-star OT target Jermiel Atkins sets commitment date
A decision is on the horizon for one of Kentucky’s top offensive line targets.
Three-star class of 2025 offensive tackle Jermiel Atkins posted to social media on Tuesday afternoon that he will announce his college choice on Thursday, July 4. The 6-foot-8, 290-pound product out of Trotwood-Madison (OH) High also trimmed his list of options down to just three: Kentucky, Minnesota, and Virginia Tech.
Atkins will officially visit all three schools this month. He’ll start at Virginia Tech on June 7 before hitting Minnesota on June 14 and then closing things out at Kentucky on June 21. Atkins also officially visited Arizona State over the weekend, but the Sun Devils did not make his final cut.
Kentucky initially offered Atkins back in Feb. 2024, his first from a high-major school. Virginia Tech, Arizona State, Minnesota, and West Virginia all joined the mix after that. A pair of Wildcat assistants — associate head coach Vince Marrow and offensive line coach Eric Wolford — posed with Atkins for a picture when he made a trip to campus in late March.

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Atkins is considered the No. 918 overall rising high school senior in the country. In addition to the trio of schools he’s officially visiting, he holds other scholarships from the likes of Toldeo, Kent State, Marshall, Western Kentucky, and a few others. Atkins also plays basketball.
Kentucky receiving his last visit is notable. If Atkins goes through with the visits to Minnesota and Virginia Tech without committing to either school, the Wildcats will be in good shape heading into his decision. But as we’ve seen a few times already over the last week, it’s not uncommon for a recruit to commit while on an official visit to the first program on their schedule.
The Wildcats currently have six class of 2025 commitments, good enough for the 26th-best class in the nation.
