Kentucky's trip to Alabama may be impacted by winter storm

A major winter storm is moving into the Bluegrass tomorrow and could throw a major wrench into Kentucky Basketball’s trip to Alabama. After tonight’s 77-70 win over Vanderbilt, John Calipari told reporters the team planned to leave for Alabama tomorrow, but due to the storm, will have to depart on Friday — if at all. The Cats are scheduled to play the Crimson Tide Saturday at 8 p.m. ET.

“We’re not going to be able — we were thinking of leaving tomorrow if we could get out but we’re not going to be able to. We’re hoping the ice will subside and we can get out on Friday but we may not be able to get out on Friday. So, we’re just going to follow the weather but we’re not going to put ourselves in any tough position travel-wise.”

A third to three-quarters of an inch of ice is expected to hit Lexington tomorrow, prompting Governor Andy Beshear to declare a state of emergency. Here are the latest estimates and timing from LEX18:
