Kentucky announces addition of Wake Forest transfer Andrew Carr
Andrew Carr is officially a Kentucky Wildcat. UK just announced the addition of the Wake Forest transfer, who committed to the program last night following an official visit. Carr, a 6-11, 230-pound forward, totaled over 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 100 blocks in four years at Delaware and Wake Forest. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.
“Andrew Carr is the prototypical college and NBA power forward,” Kentucky coach Mark Pope said in the press release. “He’s incredibly skilled and an elite level decision maker. He shoots the ball with terrific range and is a force inside shooting 66 percent on 2-point field goal attempts.
“Andrew understands what it means to wear this jersey and he understands the assignment and why he is coming to Lexington. He’s been a captain of every team he’s ever been associated with. He’s a steadying force and a great leader who Kentucky fans are going to love.”
On3 ranks Carr as the 73rd-best player in the portal this offseason, a stretch four with the ability to knock down shots from the perimeter and guard multiple positions. Last season, he averaged 13.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 blocks in 32.5 minutes per outing for the Demon Deacons. Carr started all 35 games played while shooting 52.6 percent overall, 37.1 percent from deep (2.8 attempts per contest), and 78.1 percent from the line. As a junior, he started all 33 games and averaged 10.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, leading the team with 32 blocks and 49.4% field-goal percentage.

The West Chester, Pennsylvania native started his college career at Delaware, where he played in 49 games and made 44 starts over two seasons. He averaged 8.2 points and 3.6 boards as a freshman before upping his averages to 10.0 points and 5.1 rebounds per game his sophomore season.
“Excited to announce I am transferring to the University of Kentucky for my graduate season,” Carr wrote on social media last night. “I know what it means to wear Kentucky across my chest and couldn’t be more ready to get to work!! Go Cats!”
Carr joins Collin Chandler, Travis Perry, Amari Williams, Lamont Butler, and Otega Oweh as official roster additions for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Utah State forward Great Osobor started his official visit to Kentucky last night.
