Kentucky back in the mix for 4-star CB Dawayne Galloway
Back in July, cornerback Dawayne Galloway committed to Purdue over the likes of Kentucky, Syracuse, West Virginia, and others. On Sunday, he reopened his recruitment — and the Wildcats are already back in the mix.
“I have decommitted from Purdue after careful thought and consideration,” Galloway posted to social media. “Thank you to the staff and all involved. I am open to all programs interested in myself.”
Not long after he announced his decision, Galloway told KSR that the following schools have reached out with interest in recruiting him: Illinois, West Virginia, Kentucky, Penn State, Colorado, Miami, Wisconsin, and Michigan.
The Colombus, OH product is considered a four-star prospect and the No. 168 overall recruit from the 2025 class.

Kentucky has put in plenty of legwork with Galloway. Associate head coach Vince Marrow has been all over Galloway since last fall when Marrow extended him an offer back in Sept. 2023. UK cracked his Top 12 this past February and was among the final four before he ultimately chose Purdue. The 6-foot, 170-pound defensive back took an unofficial visit to Lexington in February and then went on his official visit in June.
Galloway himself even told On3’s Chad Simmons at the time of his commitment that “Kentucky was on top for a long time” before he picked the Boilermakers. He is cousins with Purdue freshman tight end Tayvion Galloway. But even after he committed to Purdue, Galloway always felt like a recruit that Kentucky was going to battle for until Signing Day.
UK currently has 18 class of 2025 commits on board, ranking 24th in the country. The staff has eyes on adding a few more pieces before closing up shop. Galloway will certainly be one near the top of the wish list.
