Kentucky WBB gets back on track with 89-69 win over Arkansas, moves to 17-2 (6-1 SEC)
After being upset on the road against Texas A&M, it was more than imperative that Kentucky got a win against Arkansas at home on Sunday. The month or so stretch to end the regular season is brutal, and the Cats will need every win they can get, and a win over a 8-13 (1-5 SEC) squad at home would certainly be ideal.
Kentucky would end up getting the victory over the Razorbacks, walking away with a 89-69 win as they moved to 17-2 (6-1 SEC).
The game begun with Kentucky getting off to a red-hot start. Perhaps that’s what the pregame fire alarms were trying to warn us about. Not even three minutes into the game, Kenny Brooks‘ squad had an 11-0 lead, and by the end of the first quarter, the Cats held a big 29-10 lead over the Razorbacks.
After getting out to a 23-4 first quarter lead against Georgia, Kentucky let up for the rest of the game as they coasted to a 14-point win, and it seemed like something similar may happen with Arkansas. The Razorbacks outscored Kentucky by three in the second quarter, but of course, the Cats held a firm 44-28 lead through two.
Georgia Amoore led the way at the break with 11 points on 4-5 (1-2 3PT) shooting, and she would end her afternoon with 19 points on 7-12 shooting in the winning effort. She also amassed eight assists and three rebounds along the way.
The third quarter was a better one for the Cats, outscoring the Hogs by eight in the period. Dazia Lawrence, who had 14 points on the day, would hit a buzzer-beater three to propel Kentucky into the fourth quarter with momentum riding high.

From there, the Cats handled business as they would go on to beat the Razorbacks by 20 points. After dropping a game they probably shouldn’t have at Texas A&M, Kentucky got a big bounce back win in Sunday’s contest with Arkansas.
It’s also worthy to note that Clara Strack recorded her ninth double-double of the year, recording 17 points and 10 rebounds in a 25-minute effort. She also had four rejections against the Razorbacks.
Kentucky’s slate of games to end the regular season is brutal, and the gauntlet begins on Thursday when the Cats take on No. 19 Alabama (17-3, 4-2 SEC) in Historic Memorial Coliseum. The game is set to tip off at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
