Kentucky Baseball Adds Transfer Arm in LHP Dominic Niman
Nick Mingione keeps on adding to his incoming transfer class.
Dominic Niman, a 6-3, 220-pound LHP transfer from Central Connecticut, announced his intention to transfer to Kentucky Friday afternoon. The incoming senior experienced a phenomenal junior season, where he was named to the Collegiate Baseball All-America Second Team, All-Northeast Conference First Team, and was named Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Year. He went 12-2 last season with 94 strikeouts in 104 innings with a 2.77 ERA. Niman’s 12 wins were a program record.
The ‘Cats beat out the likes of Georgia and South Carolina for Niman. He becomes the fifth player in Kentucky’s incoming transfer class, joining INF Trey Paige (Delaware State), OF Ty Crittenberger (Western Kentucky), RHP Trey Pooser (Charleston), and INF Mitchell Daly (Texas). Niman was one of the best players remaining in the portal and will be a big contributor for the ‘Cats next season.

Kentucky has already lost a handful of players to the portal this offseason, although none were considered significant contributors in 2023. A handful of ‘Cats from this past season could have the opportunity to begin their professional careers when the MLB Draft gets underway on Sunday, June 11th.
With several key pieces from the 2023 team having graduated, reloading the roster through the portal once again might be a necessity for Mingione — who was successful with this method last offseason — if the program wants to maintain momentum heading into 2024 and build off this past season’s Super Regional appearance.
So far, so good.
