Kentucky baseball announces 2024 SEC schedule
We’re fully into football season, but there’s some baseball news to report on.
On Wednesday afternoon, Kentucky baseball announced its Southeastern Conference schedule for the upcoming 2024 season. Coming off the program’s second-ever NCAA Regional championship in school history, the Bat ‘Cats will face another challenging run of intraconference opponents. Luckily, that slate does not include defending national champion LSU.
However, the schedule is daunting. Kentucky will play 10, three-game series with no repeat opponents. Among UK’s foes for the spring of 2024 include Florida (away), Tennessee (home), Alabama (home), South Carolina (away), Arkansas (home), and Vanderbilt (home) — all teams that finished among D1Baseball’s Top 25 to close the 2023 season. Three of those programs — LSU, Florida, and Tennessee — made it to the 2023 Men’s College World Series, with the Tigers taking down the Gators in the finals.
Kentucky will kick off SEC play on March 15-17 against Georgia at home. All home games will be played at Kentucky Proud Park in Lexington. Only once will the ‘Cats travel for road series on back-to-back weekends — at Missouri (March 22-24) and at Ole Miss (March 29-31). The non-conference schedule for 2024 has yet to be announced. TV times and locations for all games will be released at a later time.
Led by head coach Nick Mingione, who is about to embark on his eighth season in charge of the Wildcats, expectations will be higher than they’ve been in some time for UK going into the 2024 season. Kentucky got off to a blazing hot start in 2023 before tripping up down the stretch. In spite of the late-season issues, UK still went 40-21 (16-14 SEC) on the season, hosted a Regional, and advanced to the Super Regional before losing to the eventual national champions.

Once again this offseason, Mingione has reloaded his roster through the transfer portal while maintaining several key pieces from last season’s squad. UK has added the likes of INF Nick Lopez (USC), 1B Ryan Nicholson (Cincinnati), INF Mitchell Daly (Texas), RHP Robert Hogan (Texas A&M), LHP Dominic Niman (Central Connecticut), RHP Trey Pooser (Charleston), and OF Ty Crittenberger (Western Kentucky) to the roster through the portal. Additionally, the return of catcher Devin Burkes and pitcher Mason Moore were significant for next year’s team.
Below is Kentucky’s entire SEC slate for this spring. The 2024 SEC Tournament will once again take place in Hoover, AL, and will run from May 21-26.
