Kentucky Baseball Falls to LSU in SEC Tournament

The Kentucky baseball team played late into the night in Hoover, but ultimately came up empty-handed in the SEC Tournament. Four-seed LSU defeated Kentucky 11-6 in the first round of the double elimination portion of the event. The Thursday night game did not end until around 2:30 am ET.
The Bat Cats took an early 2-0 lead thanks to a Devin Burkes’ bomb over the left-field fence. It was not his only dinger on the night. The catcher went yard in the eighth inning to drive in three runs.

In-between Burke’s big blue bombs, LSU ran up the score. The fifteenth-ranked Bayou Bengals scored nine unanswered runs, including a controversial call at the plate that led to Nick Mingione’s ejection.
The Bat Cats have a quick turn-around. After playing until after 2 am, they’ll play an elimination game at approximately 2 pm against Vanderbilt. In the previous meeting with the Commodores in Lexington, the Kentucky baseball team won once. Mingione’s team only needs one win this afternoon to keep its NCAA Tournament hopes alive.
