Kentucky Baseball falls to No. 8 in Top 25 Rankings
Kentucky Baseball fell in the D1Baseball Top 25 Rankings for the second consecutive week. After dropping its weekend series at No. 15 South Carolina, the Cats dropped four spots to No. 8.
Nick Mingione’s squad has hit a bit of a plateau, as they’ve lost back-to-back series for the first time this season. Heading into last weekend’s series against Tennessee, Kentucky had lost just five games all season. Following its 10-0 shutout loss to Carolina on Sunday however, the Cats are just 2-4 in their last six contests.
As of Monday morning, Kentucky currently sits at 33-9 (16-5) and remain a half game ahead of Tennessee in the SEC East. The race at the top of the conference however is heating up, as Kentucky, Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Tennessee are all within a half game of the crown. The Cats and Razorbacks are tied at the top as of now at 16-5.

Nine SEC teams are ranked in this week’s Top 25. No. 8 Kentucky is joined by No. 1 Texas A&M, No. 2 Arkansas, No. 3 Tennessee, No. 15 South Carolina, No. 16 Mississippi State, No. 17 Vanderbilt, No. 19 Georgia, and No. 23 Alabama.
There is no midweek game for Kentucky for the second consecutive week. The Cats will be back in action on Friday, May 3, when they host No. 2 Arkansas at Kentucky Proud Park. After their recent struggles, it will certainly be the most important series of the season for the Bat Cats if they have a shot at being a top-eight national seed.
