Kentucky’s 2022-23 non-conference schedule is a work in progress. Jon Rothstein reports that the Cats will NOT play Notre Dame as previously scheduled this season. Instead, the final game of the multi-year series will move to the 2023-24 season and be played at a neutral site. Kentucky hosted Notre Dame on Dec. 12, 2020, and the Cats played in South Bend on Dec. 11 last year. The Fighting Irish won both contests. When the series was announced in May 2020, it was slated to be a home-home-neutral site.

Additionally, a source tells Rothstein that Kentucky will host Duquesne at Rupp Arena this season. The Cats have played the Dukes twice, beating them 93-59 in 2016 as part of the Bluegrass Showcase and 55-42 in the 1982 UKIT. Duquesne was 6-24 last season, 1-16 in Atlantic 10 play. The Dukes are coached by Keith Dambrot.

While the Cats won’t get a chance to avenge their recent losses to Mike Brey this year, the postponement could open a spot for a marquee non-conference game at Rupp, which the schedule desperately needs. Here is the 2022-23 slate as we know it. A game vs. Bellarmine is also in the works.

  • TBA: Duquesne | Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY
  • Nov. 15 (Tue.): Michigan State (Champions Classic) | Gainbridge Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, IN
  • Dec. 4 (Sun.): Michigan (Basketball Hall of Fame London Showcase) | The O2 Arena, London, England
  • Dec. 17 (Sat.): UCLA (CBS Sports Classic) | Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
  • Dec. 31 (Sat.): Louisville | Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY
