New Kentucky basketball jerseys are coming for the first time since 2015-16.
After six long years with the same look with only one alternate uniform in that span — an off-white version of the same combo — the school has announced that it’s time for a change of scenery.
“Coming this fall,” Kentucky posted, sharing a video compilation of the school’s various uniforms since the start of the John Calipari era in Lexington with a blank placeholder for the new mock-ups set to be released in the coming months.
Despite several reports indicating a change was coming, this is the first official announcement from Kentucky acknowledging the anticipated update.
Kyle Tucker of The Athletic previously reported that the new permanent combination will not feature the prominent checkerboard stripes down both sides.
“That’s one message that finally got through,” Tucker wrote at the time.
Tucker added today that the new uniforms are expected to have a classic look, also doubling down on the absence of checkerboards.

Kentucky has kept the same basketball uniform combo every season since 2016-17 after several different iterations and designs throughout the start of the John Calipari era in Lexington. The team regularly rolled out unique one-game combos for high-profile matchups, highlighted by new fonts, colors and designs.
Since 2016, though, the special edition uniforms have been few and far between. The team wore an alternate uniform for one game last season, a gray colorway just a shade darker than the traditional white. Everything else remained the same
The final product has not yet been revealed, but the program is going with a new look as it looks to make its first Final Four since 2015.
