Kentucky Basketball Bracketology Update
With this weekend’s games just about behind us, it’s time to look at the updated NCAA Tournament bracket predictions. Gonzaga fell from a potential No. 1 seed in one bracket following their loss to BYU and our own Kentucky Wildcats moved up a line in another bracket.
The update from USA Today has Kentucky in the West Region as the No. 3 in Greenville, facing No. 14 Belmont. The winner of that round would face the winner of No. 6 Creighton and No. 11 Vanderbilt/USC.
Top teams predicted to play in the West are No. 1 seeded Oregon, No. 2 Gonzaga, No. 4 Duke and No. 5 Cincinnati with Syracuse and Virginia Tech sneaking in as well.
From each region, the No. 1 seeds are as follows:
EAST – Villanova
SOUTH – North Carolina
WEST – Oregon
MIDWEST – Kansas
CBS Sports on the other hand still has Gonzaga as the No. 1 seed over Oregon in the West, with Kentucky as No. 3 in the South. The Wildcats would face No. 14 Akron in Indianapolis with the potential to face No. 6 Wisconsin in the second round.

The big news for Kentucky came from a 247Sports report that ESPN’s Joe Lunardi has UK moving up to a No. 2 seed. This of course was after UK’s 76-66 win over #13 Florida on Saturday that boosted them to first in the SEC. Lundardi also lists Arizona, Louisville and Oregon as No. 2 seeds with the No. 1 seeds including the predictable Kansas, Villanova, North Carolina and Gonzaga.
