Kentucky Basketball falling in various national power rankings, polls
We’ll find out how far Kentucky falls in the AP and Coaches Polls in just a few hours; currently, the Cats are No. 13 in both. While we wait, here’s a rundown of where Kentucky stands in the eyes of various national media members following the 63-53 loss to No. 16 UCLA.
Gary Parrish: No. 18 (Prev. No. 14)
Only one Kentucky starter finished with more than eight points in Saturday’s 63-53 loss to UCLA. The Wildcats’ next game is Wednesday against Florida A&M.
Seth Davis: No. 20 (Prev. No. 12)
Kentucky needed to drop after losing to UCLA, but the Wildcats were in contention late in the second half, and the Bruins were ranked ahead to begin with. Kentucky doesn’t have any great wins, but it also doesn’t have any bad losses, so there’s no reason to drop the Cats out of the rankings — yet.
Jeff Goodman: No. 24 (Prev. No. 18)
Andy Katz’s Power 36: No. 27 (Prev. No. 12)
The Wildcats had their moments defensively, but struggled to score against UCLA.
UCLA was also Katz’s Team of the Week following wins over No. 20 Maryland and No. 13 Kentucky.
ESPN’s Jeff Borzello only ranks 16 teams. Not only did the Cats not make the cut, they are not among the three teams in the “waiting room.”
Leave your prediction on where the Cats will rank — if at all — in the comments.
