Kentucky has a chance to get its first true road win tonight and extend its winning streak vs. Vanderbilt to eleven, seven straight in Memorial Gymnasium. There are some other significant milestones to keep an eye on as well. Come and take a trip through the game notes with me:

  • Davion Mintz needs 1 steal to reach 100 in his career. Before Saturday’s game vs. Georgia, Kentucky celebrated Mintz reaching the 1,000-point mark in his career vs. LSU on Jan. 4.
  • Kellan Grady needs 1 rebound to reach 500 in his career. He’s also 17 threes from 300 in his career.
  • Sahvir Wheeler needs 10 steals to reach 100 in his career and 66 more assists to hit 500. This season, Wheeler is averaging 7.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game.
  • John Calipari needs four more wins to reach on-court victory No. 800 in his career.

Kentucky vs. Kansas in All-Time Wins

If you’re curious/concerned, Kentucky still has a four-game lead on Kansas in all-time wins, 2,339 to 2,335. Both teams have five games to play ahead of the Jan. 29 showdown in Lawrence. Here’s a side-by-side comparison of the schedules, with the opponent’s KenPom ranking in parentheses.

Kentucky (2,339 wins)Kansas (2,335 wins)
Vanderbilt (75) — AWAYIowa State (38) — HOME
Tennessee (14) — HOMEWest Virginia (40) — HOME
Texas A&M (65) — AWAYOklahoma (32) — AWAY
Auburn (7) — AWAYKansas State (69) — AWAY
Mississippi State (41) — HOMETexas Tech (18) — HOME

So, unless Kentucky hits a major losing skid, the Cats will still hold the lead heading into the Big 12/SEC Challenge. For what it’s worth, KenPom has Kentucky winning four of the next five, dropping the game at Auburn, and Kansas winning all five. That would take the totals to Kentucky 2,343 and Kansas 2,340. Shoutout to the Jayhawks for losing at Texas Tech on Saturday.
