Thanks to Myron Medcalf, we now know one of Kentucky Basketball’s exhibition opponents. On today’s KSR, Medcalf broke the news that Kentucky will host his alma mater, Minnesota State, on Tuesday, October 29 at Rupp Arena.

This will be the first meeting between the Cats and the Mavericks, who won both the NCAA men’s and women’s Division II championships last season. The men’s team beat Nova Southeastern 88-85 with a three-pointer with less than a second on the clock to claim the title and cap off a 35-2 season. The Mavericks compete in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) and are led by Matt Margenthaler, who has a 488-211 record over his 23 seasons as Minnesota State’s head coach.

This is one of two exhibitions on Kentucky’s schedule this season, the other which has yet to be announced. Hopefully, Myron will make the trip back down to Lexington to see his alma mater play Mark Pope’s first Kentucky team at Rupp Arena.
