When the calendar flipped over from 2023 to 2024, Andrew Purcell only held a pair of Divison I offers from Troy and UAB — local schools for the Enterprise (AL) High product. But once Ole Miss offered in mid-January, the three-star recruit’s stock quickly boomed.

Purcell, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback from the class of 2025, now holds double-digit Power Four offers. Among the schools reaching out include Oregon, Indiana, Miami (FL), Florida, Tennessee, Penn State, West Virginia, Georgia, and Clemson, among others. He’s considered the No. 567 overall rising high school senior in the country by the On3 Industry Ranking.

Kentucky defensive backs coach Chris Collins offered Purcell in April and the Wildcats have been in his ear ever since. Collins visited Purcell in person just a few weeks ago.

According to On3’s Chad Simmons, Purcell has locked in a trio official visits and one of them will go to Kentucky. Purcell will be in Lexington from June 14-16. He also has visits to Miami (May 31) and Tennessee (June 21) scheduled with the possibility of Georgia and/or Clemson receiving an OV, as well.

Purcell tells Simmons that Clemons, Kentucky, and Miami have been recruiting him the hardest. A trip to Lexington next month will be his first.

“Showing love, recruiting me real hard,” he told On3 about Kentucky. “They’ve been telling me ‘We’re not recruiting you just to recruit you, we want to recruit you because you’re gonna play.’ That really stood out to me.”

Kentucky already has one defensive back on board in 2025 four-star safety Martels Carter. Could Purcell be the next?
