Bracketology: Kentucky No. 2 seed per ESPN, No. 3 seed per CBS Sports
After a wild Saturday that saw seven of the top ten teams in the AP Poll lose, including Kentucky, the Cats’ NCAA Tournament projections look pretty much the same in Joe Lunardi’s eyes. Lunardi released a new Bracketology this morning and Kentucky remains the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region, albeit with Baylor as the No. 1 seed, not Kansas. Kansas is now the No. 1 seed in the East Region. Lunardi’s Midwest bracket has Kentucky opening NCAA Tournament play in Indianapolis vs. Jacksonville State with a potential second-round rematch vs. North Carolina.
Lunardi’s other No. 1 seeds: Gonzaga (West), Arizona (South), Baylor (Midwest), and Kansas (East). No. 2 seeds: Purdue (West), Duke (South), Kentucky (Midwest), and Auburn (East). Six SEC teams are in: Auburn (No. 2 seed), Kentucky (No. 2 seed), Tennessee (No. 3 seed), Arkansas (No. 5 seed), Alabama (No. 5 seed), and LSU (No. 6 seed).
Jerry Palm drops Kentucky to a No. 3 seed
Kentucky is still a No. 2 seed according to Lunardi and Shelby Mast of Bracket WAG. The Cats are the No. 6 overall team in the Bracket Matrix, an aggregate of all the NCAA Tournament projections on the internet. One major Bracketologist dropped the Cats to the No. 3 seed line. In his latest projections for CBS Sports, Jerry Palm has Kentucky as the No. 3 seed in the East Region with No. 1 seed Baylor and No. 2 seed Duke. That would set up a Sweet 16 showdown with the Blue Devils in Philadelphia 30 years after “The Shot.”

On his “Team Bracket Index,” Palm has the Cats as the top No. 3 seed, with Wisconsin and Providence as No. 2 seeds:
Putting a Wisconsin team with a Quad 2 and a Quad 3 loss ahead of Kentucky tells me everything I need to know about Jerry Palm.
