It’s a Friday morning in February, which means one thing: new Bracketology! Joe Lunardi’s latest update still has Kentucky as the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Region with Kansas as the No. 1 seed. In this completely hypothetical bracket, Kentucky would face Jacksonville State in the first round in Indianapolis and the winner of Marquette and Michigan in the second round. A potential game vs. Wisconsin or Arkansas awaits in the Sweet 16.

Lunardi’s No. 1 seeds: Gonzaga (West), Arizona (South), Kansas (Midwest), and Auburn (East). The No. 2 seeds: Kentucky (Midwest), Baylor (South), Purdue (East), and Duke (West). That’s the order they’re in according to his latest seed-line update as well, meaning the Cats are on the cusp of a No. 1 seed. Kentucky is also the top No. 2 seed per Bracket Matrix, an aggregate of all of the NCAA Tournament projections on the internet.

A win at Arkansas on Saturday could be the boost Kentucky needs to get to the top line. An Auburn loss at Tennessee would help too.
