UK Fans of the Day want a Friday Bracketology update
We are nine days from Selection Sunday and the internet’s bracketologists are in overdrive. Joe Lunardi is now sharing daily Bracketology updates from the bracket bunker; this morning’s has Kentucky as the No. 2 seed in the East Region with…Auburn as the No. 1 seed. Michigan State or Notre Dame wait in the second round and a potential game vs. Villanova — in Philly — looms in the Sweet 16. No thanks.
Technically, as Lunardi’s bracket is written, this scenario is allowed. The Selection Committee’s guidelines say that each of the top four teams from a conference (currently, Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky) must be placed in different regions IF they are seeded on the first four lines. Lunardi has Auburn as a No. 1 seed, Kentucky as a No. 2, Tennessee as a No. 3, and Arkansas as a No. 5 seed. So, if Arkansas was a No. 4 seed, the Committee would have to place each team in a different region. Regardless, the odds of three of the top four teams in the SEC being in the same region seems unlikely, so I’m going to spend as much time worrying about it as I do with any of Lunardi’s projections: little.
Elsewhere, CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm has Kentucky as the No. 2 seed in the West Region with Gonzaga. He also predicts a potential second-round rematch with Notre Dame:

Kentucky is the lowest No. 2 seed on Palm’s list. On the Bracket Matrix, an aggregate of all the NCAA Tournament projections, Kentucky is the sixth team overall, so the second-highest No. 2 seed behind Kansas. Soon, we’ll know for sure.
Most importantly, Florida is still on the bubble, meaning the Gators will be desperate for a Quad 1 win tomorrow in Gainesville. Cats better be ready.
