Cameron Calhoun, 3-star Kentucky CB target, commits to Michigan
For the third time in under a year, Cameron Calhoun has committed to a school not named Kentucky.
On Saturday afternoon, the class of 2023 three-star cornerback from Winton Woods (OH) High School announced his commitment to Michigan shortly after the Wolverines upset Ohio State in The Game. Calhoun was in Lexington for an official visit to Kentucky the weekend of Nov. 12 for UK’s matchup with No. 1 Georgia, but he spent the last two weekends in Ann Arbor before ultimately committing to UM.
Calhoun cited his relationship with Michigan defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale, who was previously on staff at Kentucky from 2016-21, as the driving reason behind his decision to choose the Wolverines.
“No question it is my dawg coach Clink,” Calhoun told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “He wants me to come in and play at corner and be the best in the nation.”

Calhoun was first a West Virginia commit before winding up with the Cincinnati Bearcats in June. He initially committed to the Mountaineers in March of this year. Kentucky was considered the favorite going into the first decision, yet the ‘Cats weren’t ready to take his commitment at the time. It resulted in a fake-out video with Calhoun ditching Kentucky blue for Country Roads, only for him to reopen his recruitment months later.
After committing to Cincinnati in June, he would also back off that decision while still on his OV to Kentucky earlier this month. The ‘Cats appeared to have momentum once again, but Calhoun opted to land with Michigan, which didn’t extend him a scholarship offer until Nov. 3.
According to the On3 Consensus, Calhoun is considered the No. 481 overall high school senior and the 50th-best cornerback in the country.
