PGA TOUR coming back to Central Kentucky in 2024
Breaking news in the world of golf: the PGA TOUR is coming back to Central Kentucky.
According to a Monday morning press release in KSR’s inbox, the PGA will return to Keene Trace Golf Club in 2024, marking the TOUR’s seventh stop in Nicholasville, Kentucky. However, this year’s tournament will debut a new name. Previously known as the Barbasol Championship, the Central Kentucky-based tournament will now be known as the Kentucky Championship. Still, the co-sanctioned event will feature players from the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour, played opposite of the Genesis Scottish Open. The tournament was an alternate event to the Open Championship until a format change in 2022.
The Kentucky Championship is on the 2024 PGA TOUR schedule for July 8-14, 2024.
Vincent Norrman, a 25-year-old rookie, won last year’s tournament in a playoff after missing an eight-footer to win on the 72nd hole. He parred the same hole in sudden death to take the trophy with a 22-under 266.
