By the Numbers: Kentucky's comeback win over Georgia
At halftime, Kentucky trailed Georgia by eight, 42-34, bringing back all the bad memories from last Tuesday’s game vs. South Carolina. Thankfully, the Cats came to life, outscoring the Bulldogs 51-29 in the second half to clinch the 85-71 victory. Oscar Tshiebwe was an integral part of that comeback, finishing with a career-high 37 points and 24 rebounds, 23 of those points and 15 of those boards coming in the second half. Jacob Toppin also finished with a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with 4 assists, 2 blocks, and a steal in 38 minutes.
As we roll out our postgame coverage, here are some more postgame numbers of note:
33.3%: Kentucky’s first-half shooting percentage. The Cats were even worse from the outside, making only 2-7 for 28.6%.
54.5%: Kentucky’s second-half shooting percentage. The Cats only made 2-8 threes in the second half (25%), but still outscored Georgia 51-29. Impressive.
16-4: Kentucky’s edge on the offensive boards. The Cats won the rebounding battle 44-31.
