A top-ranked pass catcher is seriously considering the ‘Cats.

On Friday morning, class of 2024 three-star wide receiver Jabari Murphy announced that he’s down to just five options for the college level. Kentucky made the cut, as did Mississippi State, Ole Miss, West Virginia, and Penn State. Murphy, who checks in at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, is considered the No. 818 prospect in his class and the No. 112 overall wide receiver, per the On3 Consensus.

Murphy’s main contact at Kentucky is offensive line coach Zach Yenser. He also hears from wide receivers coach Scott Woodward.

Murphy, who plays out of Elmore (AL) County High School, chatted it up with Jacob Polacheck of KSR+ earlier this month to talk about his wider recruitment. Murphy spoke highly of Kentucky as a whole.

“I’d have to just say their whole organization,” Murphy told KSR+. “It’s nice up there. It feels nice. It feels like home. The only thing about it is that it’s so far away from home, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Whenever you have a coaching staff like that and a good football program with the teammates it makes a team like that a brotherhood.”

Kentucky initially offered Murphy back in Jan. 2022 following his Junior Day visit. As of right now, he does not have any planned visits to make a return trip to Lexington, but he did make it back on campus this past January. He’s looking to make a commitment decision in the middle of his senior season this fall.
