The Smith twins, Jacob and Jerod, are two of the biggest names on Kentucky football’s class of 2024 Big Board. Both are highly considering the Wildcats and one of them just made that perfectly clear.

On Friday night, Jacob Smith, a four-star rising senior EDGE who plays for Cheshire Academy (CT), announced that he is down to just six college options, according to Rivals. Kentucky made the cut, as did Notre Dame, Michigan, Nebraska, Georgia, and Alabama. Smith is considered the No. 226 prospect in the ’24 class and the No. 17 EDGE, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Jacob’s twin brother, Jerod Smith, is a four-star defensive lineman who is ranked No. 316 in the class and the No. 28 overall defensive lineman. Jerod has not released his own Top 6, but he and his brother both dropped the same Top 10 list back in January. The Smiths have said previously that they will “probably” play on the same college team together.

The Smith twins actually began their high school careers playing in Somerset, KY before transferring to Connecticut ahead of their junior seasons. They received their offers from Kentucky all the way back in June 2021 and the two sides have stayed in contact ever since. Defensive coordinator Brad White is leading Jacob’s recruitment.

“That’s my home, I’ve been talking to them for a minute so I felt like they deserved it and they’re obviously an option,” Jacob told KSR about Kentucky in February.

Recently, Jacob and Jerod have made trips to Nebraska (April 15), Alabama (March 22), and Notre Dame (March 30). The last time they visited Kentucky was during the program’s Junior Day in late January. The Smiths have previously said that they would like to commit on their birthday in August.
