One of the best players from the state of North Carolina is considering taking his talents to the Bluegrass.

On Friday night, four-star class of 2024 safety Malcolm Ziglar announced on social media that he is down to eight college options. Kentucky made the cut, as did Clemson, South Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, North Carolina, Appalachian State, and East Carolina. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Ziglar is considered the No. 250 overall prospect from the class of 2024, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Ziglar currently has a trio of official visits scheduled for this month. He’ll be at South Carolina next weekend (June 9) before making a trip to Notre Dame the following weekend (June 16) then North Carolina the weekend after that (June 23). But with high school recruits able to take an unlimited number of official visits starting in July, don’t be shocked if Ziglar finds his way to Lexington sometime this year.

Kentucky only just recently offered Ziglar, with the Wildcats reaching out in late May with a scholarship. A couple of other schools in his top eight — Clemson and Notre Dame — also extended offers in May. Ziglar took an unofficial visit to Clemson last week where he picked up an offer shortly after.

During his junior season at Fuquay-Varina (NC) High School, Ziglar recorded six interceptions, three of which he returned for touchdowns, along with six pass breakups. He was tabbed first-team all-conference during his sophomore and junior campaigns. He doubles as a star track runner, recently recording a 4.38-second 40-yard dash time.
