Kentucky Softball Cruises Past Dayton

Fourth Inning Frenzy
Peyton Plotts started off the game with a solo home run for Kentucky, her fifth of the year. This is a great sign for Plotts who had been struggling recently. She had been the offensive leader for the team all season, but had moved down in the lineup due to some poor performances lately.
Plotts scored the only run for Kentucky until the Cats’ huge fourth inning. She added a 2 RBI double in to accompany her home run.
Kentucky had three straight RBI doubles to extend their lead to six in the fourth inning. With two outs, Plotts, Allie Blum, and Ally Hutchins, and McKenzie Bump all had RBI doubles to break open the game.

Haendiges did allow Dayton to score two runs in the sixth, forcing Kentucky to make a change. Julie Kelley came on the mound and was able to stifle the late run. She struck out the last batter, giving Kentucky the edge over the Flyers.
