Kentucky decommit Elijah Groves picks NC State
Well, that was quick.
Four-star linebacker Elijah Groves, who decommitted from Kentucky on Tuesday, has found a new home. The nation’s No. 250 overall prospect, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, has committed to NC State.
“God on my side,” he wrote on social media alongside the commitment graphic.
Groves, who originally chose Kentucky back in July, was the program’s sixth-highest-rated pledge in 2024. He picked the Cats over NC State and Purdue at the time, an unofficial visit to Lexington in June sealing the deal with the 6-3, 210-pound linebacker.
Then came his decommitment from the program this week.
“First off I want to thank God for giving me a chance to further my football career to the next level,” Groves said Tuesday. “I want to thank all my family for putting a roof over my head and clothes on my back. I want to thank my high school coaches for taking me in not only as an athlete but as a son, but with all that being said I will be decommitting from Kentucky and opening my recruitment back up. I just ask y’all to respect my decision!”
His recruitment would be open for 24 hours — if ever at all.
Next man up.
