Kentucky Defensive Back Elijah Reed Enters Transfer Portal
College football free agency rolls into its second week and another Kentucky Wildcat is testing the waters. Defensive back Elijah Reed has entered the transfer portal.
Reed recently completed his redshirt freshman season at Kentucky. The defensive back has three remaining years of collegiate eligibility.
From Louisville’s Pleasure Ridge Park High School, Reed used the KHSAA’s COVID-19 waiver to play an extra year of high school football for the Panthers. He used that extra year to switch positions from wide receiver to cornerback and caught the attention of Vince Marrow. The seventh-ranked player from the Commonwealth, a three-star prospect, committed to Kentucky over Utah and Purdue a month before signing day in November, 2021.

Reed enrolled early and appeared in four games during his redshirt season in 2022. In the offseason he transitioned from cornerback to safety. He spent most of the fall campaign on the two-deep, but logged the majority of his 135 snaps on special teams. Reed tallied his first career tackle against his hometown team, Louisville.
