Kentucky fell in the polls, national power rankings and analytics following its loss to Ohio State in the CBS Sports Classic, so you knew a drop in ESPN’s latest Bracketology was coming after jumping up to a No. 1 seed in the previous update. Where are the Wildcats this time around? There actually wasn’t as much movement as you’d probably expect coming off a 20-point beatdown. In fact, Mark Pope’s squad dropped just a single seed line after returning home to Lexington, falling to a No. 2 seed and shifting to the South Region.

The Cats would start in Milwaukee taking on No. 15 seed Montana, followed by a potential matchup vs. No. 7 seed Michigan in the Round of 32. Win those and they’d advance to the second weekend in Atlanta with a Sweet 16 matchup vs. No. 3 seed Oregon or No. 6 seed Ole Miss on the table, followed by an Elite Eight battle vs. No. 1 seed Auburn or No. 4 seed Texas A&M for a spot in the Final Four.

The SEC continues to lead the way with 13 potential bids, which would top the previous record of 11 teams from a single conference participating in the Big Dance. Auburn (1) and Tennessee (1) sit atop the basketball world, followed by Kentucky (2), Florida (2), Alabama (2), Texas A&M (4), Mississippi State (4), Oklahoma (5), Ole Miss (6), Georgia (8), Arkansas (9), Texas (10) and Missouri (11) to round out the SEC.

Take a look at the complete bracket:

What do you think, BBN? Fair? To be honest, it’s hard to complain about much with the Wildcats still seen as a top-eight team in college basketball after taking a 20-point loss.

That’s the beauty of those neutral-site wins over Duke and Gonzaga ahead of conference play.
