Kentucky drops to No. 15 in Coaches Poll, No. 17 in AP Poll
Voters were already losing hope last week after splitting games at South Carolina and Arkansas, Kentucky dropping two spots to No. 8 in the Coaches Poll and four spots to No. 10 in the AP Poll. Then the Cats lost two straight at home vs. Florida and Tennessee.
You knew a fall was coming, but just how far? Maybe not as much as you’d expect. They now sit at No. 17 overall, a seven-spot drop.
The Volunteers lead the SEC at No. 6 overall, followed by Auburn at No. 12, South Carolina at No. 15 — unranked last week — and Alabama at No. 16. The Cats are now fifth in the polls among SEC foes and sixth in the latest conference standings, Ole Miss slightly ahead at 18-4 overall and 5-4 in league play.

“The defensive concerns are clearly legit, as the Wildcats allowed a combined 197 points in the two games and dropped to 13th in the SEC in defensive efficiency,” Jeff Borzello said.
CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish was already low on the Cats — then they lost back-to-back at home. They are, unsurprisingly, not included in his updated Top 25 And 1 rankings. FOX Sports agreed, moving Kentucky out of their rankings completely.
As for Andy Katz of NCAA.com, he hasn’t lost complete faith. This group took a hit, dropping ten spots to No. 17 overall in his latest Power 36.
