Kentucky WBB set to face Maryland, Morgan State in Discover Puerto Rico Shootout

Kentucky’s schedule is slowly coming together, and the latest games that were announced should be exciting for Big Blue Nation.
On Thursday, the Kentucky women’s basketball program announced that it would be participating in the 2025 Discover Puerto Rico Shootout. The Cats will take on Maryland on Nov. 26 and Morgan State on Nov. 28.
Illinois State, Rice, East Carolina, Wake Forest, Hofstra and UCF are also participating in the Thanksgiving multi-team event.
The event, which is held in Coliseo Roberto Clemente in the capital city of San Juan, will be streamed on FloHoops. You’ll need a paid subscription in order to watch, similarly to how you had to get BallerTV to watch Kentucky play in the Music City Classic a year ago.
Maryland went 25-8 last year, finishing the season ranked No. 12 in the final AP Poll of the season. The Terrapins come in at No. 24 in On3’s Preseason Top 25. Brenda Frese has been at the helm of their program since 2002, winning the NCAA Championship back in 2006. During her tenure, Maryland has gone to 13 Sweet Sixteens, seven Elite Eights and three Final Fours.

As for Morgan State, they went 13-17 last season. The Lady Bears only played one major conference opponent last year (Stanford) and lost 91-49. They finished fifth in the MEAC. Additionally, they have never made the NCAA Tournament, and they’ve only ever made the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) once — where they lost to Virginia in the first round in 2011.
Kentucky’s non-conference slate looked a bit lackluster for a lack of better words, but adding this multi-team event to the schedule certainly helps make it look better.
